New speed sensor fits tight spaces

GEL2477

Lenord + Bauer have launched a new space-saving, two-channel speed sensor, with pulse amplifier, suitable for use in harsh environments and on applications where space is limited. The GEL 2477, available in the UK from Motor Technology, has been designed with a robust, stainless steel housing and operates with any ferromagnetic measuring wheel. It provides high resolution, non-contact speed sensing of rotational motion.

The new sensor features an integrated interpolation module capable of increasing the resolution by two, four or eight times. Thanks to the contact-free, magnetic sensing principle, it is suitable for use in the harshest environments. Even oil and dirt have no detrimental effect on the sensor and it is suitable for use in environments with large fluctuations in temperature.

Integrating with Lenord + Bauer’s existing range of speed sensors the GEL 2477 provides a further alternative to conventional encoder technologies, reducing installation space and integration costs. Pre-confectioned cables and simple flange mounting simplify installation even further.

It is particularly suited to motor, gearbox and roller applications which require improved performance and quality; both directly dependant on the resolution of the sensing device. The sensor is IP68 rated, is wear and maintenance free, and is suitable for use in environments with a temperature range of minus 40 to plus 120 degrees Celsius.
