New servos are easy drop-in replacements for discontinued pancakes

New MCBL motor from Mattke
The MC-BL motors are available in frame sizes 17, 19 and 23.

Mattke has launched a new range of brushless servo motors that are simple drop-in replacements for old disc armature motors, also known as pancakes motors, from the likes of Parvex, AXEM, Servalco, ABB, BBC and Mavilor.

The new MC-BL series are robust, maintenance free, permanent magnet synchronous motors designed with a very short housing. They have flange and shaft dimensions compatible with the old pancake motors so that no mechanical modifications are necessary during replacement. Simply remove the old pancake motor, choose the correct MC-BL motor and it will fit as if it were a like-for-like replacement.

Rated to IP65 the new motors achieve a very high power density and deliver excellent dynamic performance with high maximum speed. They are designed with rare earth magnets for a wide operating temperature range and have sinusoidal commutation, integrated thermal protection with PTC, rotatable angled connectors and 8-pole construction.

Launched at the SPS exhibition in Nuremberg, Germany, in November 2013, the new MCBL motors are suitable for a wide range of applications such as printing, packaging, materials handling and converting.
