Run for charity

Andrew Fallows, the managing director of Motor Technology is taking part in the Great Manchester Run, with his daughter Vicky and son Mike, to help raise money for the charity Mind. The marathon takes place in Manchester city centre on Sunday 15 May. About 38,000 people are expected to take part in the 10 kilometre race that will be televised live by the BBC.

Approximately 38,000 runners will take part in the 2011 Great Manchester Run

Andrew, who has been preparing for the Great Run by playing football and working out at the gym, said: "Our decision to raise money for Mind was inspired by my involvement in Motor Technology News. Just recently every issue has contained some sort of brain teaser, which we hope our customers enjoy, but it made me think about how lucky we are to be able to do this when there are so many people in the UK with some degree of mental health issues. Something like 25 percent of all GP appointments are for people with depression or some other kind of mental health disorder. So we decided to raise money for Mind, a marvelous charity that is doing great work for people with mental health problems of all kinds."
