Ergonomics in the workplace is all about eliminating injuries and illnesses, such as musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) by reducing exposure to hazards. Ergonomics is dealt with by the new Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and the web site, Machine Building, has written an excellent explanatory article on it.

It outlines the requirements related to ergonomics in the new Directive, it lists the harmonised standards and provides a link to a resource from where useful information sheets can be downloaded.
