We're supplying the discontinued ACM2n servo motor range

ACM2n AC Servomotors
The entire range of the ACM2n servomotors is now available from Motor Technology

We're pleased to announce that we've been appointed by ICPE to provide sales, service and support for its popular ACM2n range of servo motors following news that some suppliers have either discontinued it or are phasing it out slowly. We will now provide the full catalogue range of products, with exactly the same electrical and mechanical specifications, dimensions and options that were previously available from other suppliers

The ACM2n range of servo motors has been sold under different names, since its launch in 2000, but although it has been discontinued by some suppliers it is still being manufactured by the same company, ICPE. They are therefore still available as like-for-like, drop-in replacements, with the same motor type coding and documentation. Modifications or custom designs are also available, including replacements for any that have been supplied previously.

What is the smallest speed increment you can set on a servo motor? Part Two: Speed Resolution

In the last issue of Motor Technology News we looked at the performance differences between servos and open/closed-loop inverter systems to consider all our options for speed control. In part two of this article we're taking a closer look at speed resolution.

Looking at the speed range of a drive system is only part of the issue when designing a system requiring the capability to control speed by small increments for precision applications. All servo drives are not the same and when you are involved with an application that has some critical performance requirements, you need to be aware of the differences.

One of the main issues is that the majority of drives available on the market, whether inverter or servo, are digital and all signals to the drive are converted to allow further processing. This conversion and its resulting data need to be understood before committing to a particular drive solution. To explain this we'll stick with the same application we considered in part one, and the company in Vienna, operating the high-precision super metering pumps.
