Puzzle Corner: Mix up at the apple farm

Apples
Freshly picked apples going to market, but there has been a mix up.

There has been a mix up with the apples at the apple farm.

There are 10 baskets of apples waiting to be loaded onto a lorry and taken to market. 9 of the baskets contain apples that weigh 4 ounces each and 1 basket contains apples that weigh 5 ounces each.

The trouble is the lables have fallen off and you don't know which basket contains the apples weighing five ounces. All the apples look identical and are the same size.

Using a set of scales and one empty basket how can you determine which basket contains the heavier apples?

To make it fun the lorry driver is in a hurry and you only have enough time to use the scales once and take one reading of weight.
